Autumn 1 2026

Welcome back to school Willow class. We are so looking forward to working together this year. This term we are going to be learning about Changes Over Time. We are going to be looking at toys from today and compare them to old toys. We will be thinking about what they are made from and how they work. In October, there will also be an exciting trip to Reading Museum.

We are also going to be practising counting accurately, subitising, finding one more and one less and learning about addition and subtraction in maths. In English, we will be reading Dear Zoo, Spyder, Where Teacher’s Keep Their Pets, Three Billy Goats Gruff, Stanley’s Stick and Naughty Bus. These books will be used as stimulus for our writing. We will also be creating a fruit salad in Design and Technology and looking at Piet Mondrian and Robert Delaunay in Art to explore different painting techniques. We have a busy term ahead.

This year we will be using Little Wandle Phonic scheme. Please read at home with your child at least three times a week.

Reminders

• P.E. will be on a Monday and a Wednesday, so please wear your P.E. uniform to school on these days.
• Please do not send children to school with large bags. We do not have the space to store them. Packed lunches are stored on trolleys when the children enter school, so a book bag is more than sufficient.
• Please ensure no items are brought from home to school unless they are essential to learning or transitional / support devices previously agreed with school.
