Autumn 2 2026

This half term, we will be diving into the exciting world of rivers through both Geography and English. Our learning journey will be inspired by a range of fascinating texts, including poetry, stories and non-fiction writing. In Geography, we are hoping to take part in a river walk along the River Blackwater, where pupils will have the opportunity to explore and identify the different features of a river in a real-life setting.

In Maths, we will continue developing our understanding of measurement, focusing on converting between different units using our previous learning of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1,000. Later in the term, we will move on to fractions, geometry and revisit the four operations to strengthen key skills as we approach Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, we are looking forward to taking part in the KS2 Christmas Service at the church. The children will have the opportunity to perform a festive song for parents and families at the service.

In DT, the children will become engineers and designers as they develop their woodworking skills by creating their very own Moon Buggy. After designing, building and refining their models, we will put them to the test in an exciting challenge. Whose buggy will travel the furthest? We can't wait to find out!

Any board games at home that require children to add and subtract as they go to use the addition and subtraction formal method – monopoly or addition four in a row game – available online.

Reminders

• P.E. Will be on a Monday and a Friday, so please wear your P.E. uniform to school on these days.
• Please do not send children to school with large bags. We do not have the space to store them. Packed lunches are stored on trolleys when the children enter school, so a book bag is more than sufficient.
• Please ensure no items are brought from home to school unless they are essential to learning or transitional / support devices previously agreed with school.
