Autumn 1 2026
Welcome back to school Maple class. We are so looking forward to working together this year. This term we are going to be learning about The Anglo-Saxons. We will be finding out who they were, where they came from and what their lasting impact on Great Britain was. In English, we will be reading “Monster Slayer: A Beowulf Tale” and “The Dragon’s Hoard”, writing character descriptions, recounts and our own version of a Beowulf story.
We are also going to be looking at place value, calculations, measures, fractions, statistics and geometry in maths, revisiting electrics and circuits in Science, creating Anglo-Saxon jewellery in art, working on coding in computing, gymnastics and tag rugby in PE and also improving our French phonics and seasons knowledge. It should be a fun and busy term full of great learning!

- P.E. will be on a Monday and a Wednesday, so please wear your P.E. uniform to school on these days.
- Please do not send children to school with large bags. We do not have the space to store them. Packed lunches are stored on trolleys when the children enter school, so a book bag is more than sufficient.
- Please ensure no items are brought from home to school unless they are essential to learning or transitional / support devices previously agreed with school.
Communication
- Please contact the school office either by telephone 01252 871188 or email enquiries@newlands.hants.sch.uk

- Please allow 48 hours for a response
We look forward to learning together this term,
